Eating: Well, I’m not eating anything at this very moment, but I will tell you I’ve been making “burritos” with whatever I can find in the fridge the last two days and they’ve been hitting the spot. Whole wheat wrap with a big spread of Trader Joe’s Fiesta Cashew Dip, a bunch of baby spinach, two scrambled eggs, black beans, and a ton of Trader Joe’s Everything But The Elote seasoning and Cholula.
Feeling: …how do you think? With the appointment of Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court and the fatal shooting of a mentally ill Black man in West Philly, the past two days have been devastating. I hope everyone reading this is fostering whatever emotion is most useful for them right now, be it rage, peace, sadness, etc.
Working On: A playlist to serve as your 2020 concluding soundtrack. Think cinematic bangers, TikTok songs from the simulation, and all the themes of doom and hope colliding.
Wanting: More submissions to my essay contest, damnit!!! I’ve yet to receive ONE from a guy which bums me out because I really want to get a pool that’s reflective of my readers, many of which are men. You have until the 1st. Get writing!
Just Read: The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath. I can’t believe it took me this long, but wow. Review to come on my Instagram. I also loved this piece on Omar Apollo for Vogue. All music aside, I think the colorful, anything-goes energy of his rise to fame from his youth as a Mexican immigrant working at McDonalds in rural Indiana is candy for the culture. We love to see it.
