Slip into your red lace SAVAGE X FENTY and uncork that good Bordeaux. It’s February, baby, and whether you’re single, taken, or in some undefined purgatory, we’re getting PEAK H*RNY and slobbering all over ourselves like the caged animals we are!
Because I am a slave to love and love alone, I wanted to share a few romantic thangs to kick off this month’s content:
This beautiful piece from one of my favorite authors, Cheryl Strayed. (Have you read Wild? Because you should.) Strayed addresses a reader who wrote her for advice on when to drop the L-bomb with his partner. It brought me back to my own disastrous moment of telling Andrew I loved him first; I immediately lost my shit and shoved him out of my apartment because I was scared he wouldn’t reciprocate. Look how that turned out.
My new cupid, done by Aimie Ferreira of Omkara Tattoo! I’m so elated with how this turned out. Alas, I have solidified the whole love slave thing.
Last year’s piece on cultivating solo sensuality. IMO, this is important regardless of your relationship status. Our connections to our bodies need watered like a plant with practice and care.
A Valentine’s Day playlist to accompany upcoming pieces on sex + love. These are usually r&b-heavy, each song similar in message (i.e. I love you and want to sex you!), but this year I wanted to capture a wider spectrum, especially since we’ve been forced to reimagine what love even looks like.
Paid subscribers can get ready for next week’s interview piece on fetishes! I’ve gotten a few good submissions so far, but if you have one you’re willing to discuss in confidence + anonymously, email dia@brokebutmoisturized.com. And if you’re still reading the unpaid version of this newsletter, you know what to do. xoxo
