Quote of the Week: “I got tired of feeling like Dracula. I wanted to see some daylight, and not just at six o’clock in the morning.”—Kate Moss on slowing down partying
I share this quote because the other day, I found myself wandering around Barnes & Noble where I sat on the floor (and was promptly asked to stand up due to COV*D guidelines) reading Musings on Fashion and Style: Museo de la Moda. The photography book is curated by Kate Moss, sharing her favorite selections of vintage clothing from the Museo de la Moda, an iconic fashion museum in Santiago, Chile. Aside from feeling enchanted by historic couture in an unexpected South American locale, I reflected on my longtime fascination with Kate Moss. She’s a cliché celebrity to love, but she’s always represented something wild and raw in the fashion industry. Unruly women tend to reaffirm my penchant for late nights and short hemlines.
Drinking: GTs Gingerberry kombucha. I’m about to run for an afternoon coffee, though, because 1.) I have a late evening meeting tonight, and 2.) I asked for cream in my iced coffee this morning and received, essentially, a cup of milk that swiftly went down the drain. Coincidentally, my best friend Elise sent me a photo of her disturbingly pale cold brew with cream this morning with the same complaint. LIKE WHAT! Baristas, I love you, but when someone asks for cream in their coffee, it is to compliment the beverage, not dominate it. Control that heavy hand.
Currently Watching: The Leftovers. I’m only a few episodes in, but I’m loving this bizarre rapture drama. HBO does no wrong.
Grateful for: The transformational power of eyeliner and lipliner. My entire face changes and I become more productive. Do you get dressed / wear makeup / etc. to work from home?
Feeling: Excited for this week’s post by renaissance woman/Philly writer/mega muse, E.M. Ricchini! E.M.’s like the pistol-toting lovechild of Marcel Proust and Sophia Loren which is to say we love her. I’ve long enjoyed her writing for her blog, LARK & LACE, and now that she’s launched a second podcast on relationships, there isn’t a better time to grace your inboxes with one of her signature hot takes.
Wanting: A raw amethyst ring. Or really, any kind of colored crystal or stone set in solid gold or gold-filled. Jewels for the luxury witch.
