Eating: Alter Eco Dark Blackout 85% Cocoa chocolate bar, found at Whole Foods.
Drinking: My *favorite* cheap wine (I’m writing this at night, ok?), Campo Viejo Tempranillo. I actually drink so much of this $8 Spanish nectar that they should sponsor me.
Feeling: Very relaxed… finally. I had off today and despite being relatively productive (went for a run, did a huge Trader Joe’s haul, did laundry, read 50 pages of a book, messed around with some thrift store finds, did client work, did my Italian homework, painted my nails), I still felt this underlying shame toward not using the day wisely. I’m not trying to humble brag about everything I accomplished; as I touched on in my last post, I’m sort of in a constant state of contemplation about my relationship with productivity. Nonetheless, a hot bath, wine, and chocolate serve as the perfect antidote to any unwarranted self-loathing.
Thinking: About the wonderful weekend I just had. After months of not seeing my nephews (and crying about it quite regularly), we spontaneously drove to my hometown Saturday. We thrifted a bunch of clothes and then settled in at my parents’ with three little boys, hot chocolate, Hocus Pocus, and a board game. The next day we visited one of my girlfriends and her new Australian Shepherd puppy. I realize I’m sharing a lot of mundane shit in this Daily Drip, but that’s because I’m especially appreciative of it right now. I love sharing all the fashion and introspection and generally sexier aspects of my life, but fuck, I’m all about the simple things, many of which the pandemic has steadily halted.
Just Tried: Figs Restaurant, a Moroccan hole in the wall in my neighborhood. My friend Deepika, who last lived in my current apartment and showed it to Andrew and I when she and her husband bought a house (forever grateful), so thoughtfully gifted us a card with cash, a bottle of wine, and the instructions to use both at this cash-only BYO down the street—and to get the baked brie. We immediately booked a reservation for last night and it was everything. Get the baked brie… and maybe order two because it’s small and that good.
Working On: A joint piece with none other than my stunningly creative boyfriend! I’ll be writing and Andrew will be illustrating on a piece that I hope to share this week. We hope to make you laugh and share it to your IG story with some version of “#Goals” attached.
