Eating: Salted caramel dark chocolate.
Drinking: The remains of a red Bordeaux.
Working On: Italian homework for a *7 AM* lesson tomorrow. Remind me why I do this to myself? Tomorrow I’m also getting a much needed facial at Nirvana Health and Beauty - a new integrative health spot in Fishtown. I’ll be covering that on Instagram around 2 PM, so tune in.
Feeling: Excited! This Thursday I’m announcing the winner of my first essay contest! I’m sharing a full Q&A on Instagram and her piece will be circulated in Thursday’s newsletter as part of The Nut Diaries series. I’m so grateful to everyone who submitted an essay and I look forward to sharing more opportunities in the future. It’s my dream to keep expanding this small community of readers and writers, encouraging creativity whenever I have the funds to incentivize.
Thinking: About the relationship between career and identity. I’ve been chatting with people about how we tie work to worth (in both self and others) and why “What do you do?” is a stale icebreaker. I’ve gotten such a variety of responses that it’s made one contemplative evening. I may turn this into a full essay so… that’s all for now.
Just Read: Men Explain Things to Me by Rebecca Solnit. You can read my review here.
Currently Reading: Slow Days, Fast Company by Eve Babitz.
Loving: Election memes. I’m sorry. I hate to trivialize one of the most stressful, polarizing moments in American history, but if you can’t laugh at Trump booking Four Seasons Total Landscaping for a press conference instead of the luxury Four Seasons hotel in Philadelphia, we have nothing in common.
