My paid subscribers mean the world to me. Their generous support has pulled me out of hard times, and made the good times sweeter just knowing people care about the material survival of this project. Writing is hard when you have other jobs. It’s even harder when you do it for free, driven by obsessive love and the remote fantasy of “making it” one day. So for making me a paid writer, for riding shotgun on this dream, I can’t thank you all enough.
Creating a sustainable offering for paid subscribers is something I’ve struggled with for a long time. I didn’t want to bite off more than I could chew, or do something that doesn’t feel like me, and end up scrapping it two posts in (like the podcast thing). And I didn’t want to deny my best work a broader reach, being such a small fish and all. So I thought, what can I package on a regular cadence that is earnest, intimate, and adds value to your life?
Behold: a poem, a recipe, and a rec.
Once or twice a month, you’ll get an original poem, a recipe I’ve cooked and loved (either from the internet or developed myself), and a recommendation (something I read, an album, a product, a habit or hobby, etc.) with a short breakdown of why you need it in your life. There will be curated imagery and general loveliness to give you that break from your day to sit with beauty for beauty’s sake, to contemplate the slow stuff. It will truly be a piece of my heart under a microscope. I really, really hope you enjoy it. And please have patience with me through the aesthetic evolution; I’m not great at incorporating design elements on here. So, without further ado…
