Dear reader,
This is my 120th post on Substack.
It’s not a milestone, like 50 or 100, because if you know me, you know I’m too busy clocking deaths and birthdays to keep track of much else. But I just so happened to get curious this morning, scrolling the archive and counting each entry, one by one, twice.
Here is where I document both my everyday musings, and the ideas and feelings that graciously stretch themselves into stories. It’s the closest to “home” that an emotional nomad like me can get. That being said, I need to get out of the house for a little. So I’m signing off until the new year!
In the meantime, remember:
Don’t touch white powders if you can help it. You literally might die.
Within you exists both the power of Joan Didion (the OG cynic) and Eve Babitz (the OG hedonist). Choose your California.
Control is an illusion. It’s up to us to maintain a beautiful and inspiring version of that illusion so we can sleep at night.
Happy holidays to all. I’ll see you in 2022.
I’m not going to coax you with some cute message about why you should become a paid subscriber. If you think this newsletter is worth supporting, then I appreciate you. Likes, comments, and shares help, too!
Control is overrated because as you say, it is an illusion. Have a fantastic season of people pretending they have some sort of control over things!
